Channing Frye predicts what will happen if LeBron James announces his retirement from the Los Angeles Lakers.
LeBron James has the NBA waiting impatiently after his cryptic social media post.
LeBron James posted on social media, "The decision of all decisions. October 7th, 12 PM Eastern Standard Time." This is reminiscent of the infamous "decision" in which James announced his decision to join the Miami Heat in 2010.

The post led many to speculate whether the 40-year-old James would announce his retirement before his 23rd season in the NBA. Rumors of James' retirement began to surface over the summer when Shams Charania revealed that he was considering retiring with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer shows no signs of slowing down, but now that he has achieved his goal of playing alongside his son, Bronny James, there's nothing left for the legend to do.
James' former teammates are also unaware of his announcement, leading Channing Frye to predict the impact his retirement will have on the NBA.
Channing Frye says LeBron James' retirement will "put the NBA in trouble."
Frye, who played with James for the Cleveland Cavaliers, is unsure what his "biggest decision of all decisions" will be. Frye predicts that if James' career ends, it will have serious consequences for the NBA.
Speaking to The Sports Reporters, he said, "If this is his last year, he'll put the NBA in trouble. LeBron will be the main attraction on every show, the Lakers will be on every station."
"And doing this right before the season is going to send ticket prices skyrocketing. I think the Lakers are strong for him, at least in the top 10 in the West, so why not?"
"And what are you playing for? They're not going to get any better next year."
Frye also offered some alternative predictions about James' announcement. He added: "Is he buying a team? Is he joining a network? Is he working with some other billionaires? We have to think big."
Tickets for Kobe Bryant's last game with the Lakers cost up to $26,500, so it's expected that prices for James' potential retirement tour will skyrocket as fans desperately clamor for one last chance to see one of the NBA's all-time greats in action.
Channing Frye Expresses Concerns About the NBA's Future Without LeBron James
Since being selected as "The Chosen One" in 2003, James has been the talk of the NBA. His dominance in the 2010s led the team to the Finals for eight consecutive seasons. He has been a hero, a villain, and everything in between.
As the face of the league, James has led the NBA for 22 years. This worries Frye, who said there's no player going forward who can replicate James' polarizing influence.
Frye explained: "Really, no one in the league is as polarizing as this. Luka [Doncic] is great, but hasn't won. Joel Embiid is great, but hasn't won.
"Will Giannis [Antetokounmpo] be able to get back there? [Victor Wembanyama] hasn't won. Who's the next one to say, "Give me that backpack, I'll go to the NBA Finals three, four, five, six years in a row"?
Frye has a point. We live in a world of NBA parity, where different teams compete every season. While this is great for the league's competitiveness from top to bottom, it doesn't allow for a story to progress season after season.
The NBA needs a player who can be loved or hated, and that comes with winning. So if this is truly the end, who will fill the power vacuum left by James?
Doncic could usurp James's crown by leading the Lakers to a championship. Meanwhile, Wembanyama is looking to dominate the preseason. For the league's future, one of the young superstars needs a historically great season.
